The icky little spider – a song parody by yours truly…

The icky little spider

The icky little spider climbed up my office wall.
Dropping down its web, it freaked this writer out!
Out came a bat to smash that thing away,
And the icky little spider got up and ran away.

The icky little spider fell off the office wall.
Out came the fear of this brave writer now.
Grabbing some spray to scare that thing away,
And the icky little spider got up and walked away.

The icky little spider glared at me from the wall.
Spinning down the web, it’s staring at me now!
Out came the vacuum to suck that thing away,
And the icky little spider somehow had got away.

The icky little spider’s no longer on the wall.
“Where is it at,” is what I’m asking now.
Out of my office, staring from the hall;
And the icky little spider is laughing at it all.

The icky little spider starts crawling towards me – Wow!!
Down came my shoe to end this nonsense now.
Back in the office, beaming ear to ear;
‘Cause that icky little spider’s no longer my top fear.

So sorry if that gets stuck on a loop in your head! I’m not sure why, but lately I have been having a blast writing song parodies. Maybe it was the inspiration of attending the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop. Anyhow, I’ve written parodies over the years, so go ahead and read my first official newspaper column, and one I wrote last week. Enjoy!
